FRENCH REVELATIONS: PAINTER/POET GIRODET

THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO's Fullerton Hall, 111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL

Painter/poet Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy Trioson flourished during the era of the French Revolution. A student of Jacques-Louis David, he assertively tried to out do his mentor. Yannik Mercoyrol, cultural attaché to the Consolute General of France, presents, with Christopher Cartmill, highlights of Girodet's literary work matched by a survey of his most noted paintings. Operatic parlor songs by composers like Glück and Offenbach are presented by singers from the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists.
Part of the current AIC exhibition Girodet: Romantic Rebel.
